CNN is a Joke
"Has everyone
in the world gone in-fucking-sane?"

Intelligent and neurotic, Pete Lemox is a clinical example of what happens when you refresh the cnn.com web page one too many times. Though often the angry voice of reason concerning current affairs or any of Norm's endeavors, Pete is still capable of extreme stupidity. He prefers a cheap wine to a cheap beer, and may wax romantically when inebriated.

Pete's character guide:
Pete has been known to become violently ill because of politics, but he still pursues it with a passionate addiction. In fact, one time he even hallucinated and saw Reagan's ghost.

Pete and Yuki remain friends even though they broke up, but sometimes Lemox's passive aggressive tendancies get the best of him.

So, what are we to think when Bush compares our current war to WWII? Clearly, the knee jerk reaction is to claim that the fucker has finally lost it, that Dubya's senility makes Cheney and his "last throes" a voice of clarity and expertise.

Just got done reading "The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell," by John Crawford, who served in Iraq for more than a year. The book comes across as a simple collection of memoirs from a very disturbing place, and it's kind of a shame- it could have been so much more. I don't mean this as a vehicle for the anti-war movement (though Crawford is clearly against the conflict), but more as a way of understanding the the soldier side. BTW, that's a fucking great System of a Down song.

But anyways, about the book- The guy clearly isn't a seasoned writer. That's ok, but the text sure could have used a good editor or some other sort of polish. The bulk of it lists off demented schoolboy pranks like stealing beer or getting jacked up on meds, but the all too brief elements of lost humanity and the darkening of the soul. So all in all, a worthwhile read, but Crawford's effort won't rank up with Tim O'Brien.

Watching tha SPAN right now. The house is discussing extension of the Patriot Act, especially newly revised sunset clauses that will extend it for the next decade. And all the conservatives sound like goddamn parrots- "The evils of 9/11".... "We haven't had a new attack since 9/11 because of this"... "9/11,9/11,9/11."

So what the fuck is up with that new John Cusack Movie? Must Love Dogs? What the hell kind of name is that? Undoubtedly some kind of committee-decided moniker that will appeal to both sexes enough to pull in a good date-movie draw.

But what really gets me is the Ramones T-shirt. It's like Cusack is using code words to speak to his disgusted hipster fans. "Yes! I am still cool! Really! I just have to do shitty movies to pay for my burgeoning heroin addiction!"
